I’m always amazed by how every new thing I learn ends up enriching something I was already doing. Whether it’s painting a peach teaching me about portraits or painting hair teaching me about flowers, each experience informs and influences my art in unexpected ways. Beyond my deep desire to capture the essence of nature, I’m certain this journey will profoundly shape my artistic expression.
Three favorite landscape painters:
Carlos de Haes, Albert-Bierstadt, Edward Minoff
I admire these landscape artists for their mastery and profound understanding of nature like atmospheric depth, the interplay of light and shadow, color harmony… but in a nutshell their ability to translate the language of nature into colors and shapes.
I want to be able to capture the essence of a scene in nature and share it as vividly as I can.
When I see a painting by Edward Minoff I can smell the water and feel the breeze. I want to be able to do that.
