Course Description

This course is designed to build confidence in young artists by equipping them with knowledge
and tools useful for drawing the model from life and beyond. Artists will be guided through
each stage of the process, and will aim to complete a rendered drawing of a model from life by
the end of five days.

The class will use a clear step-by-step approach, breaking down the complex process of drawing
into digestible steps. Participants will begin by blocking in the proportions of the model with a
focus on accurate observation and likeness. Artists will then progress towards rendering the
portrait one structure at a time beginning from the forehead down to the chin and neck.
Rendering each facial feature in relation to the light source will be given ample amount of time
and critique, whereby Lorenzo will guide artists with daily demonstrations and in-depth
personal critiques through each stage of the process. Structural anatomy, material handling,
and the modeling factors of light will be discussed throughout each session.

Teens of all levels, including complete beginners, are encouraged to participate.
