Course Description

In this five day workshop students will explore compositional and technical attributes of the painted figure in interior spaces. Beginning with an inspirational trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, students will be guided through the creative process best suited to creating an accurate painting of a figure embedded in an interior. Students can expect to accomplish three detailed studies devoted to the atmospheric and technical aspects of representational life painting.

Day One (Ananda all day): A trip to the MET museum will allow us the opportunity to discuss design principles and strategize how to effectively execute a painted figure in an environment.

Day Two (Rodrigo all day): Using the model we will discuss value relationships, rhythm, and compositional decisions through thumbnails, value studies and color studies.

Day Three-Five (Ananda AM/Rodrigo PM): Students will paint three medium sized figures in an interior.
