Course Description
In our five-day portrait workshop, you will learn a holistic approach to sculpting a portrait from life. From finding the global character of our model’s head, to anchoring the features in the bony landmarks of the face, our workshop will coach the artist through every hurdle of sculpting an accurate, lifelike portrait. We will begin with the most basic ideas, starting with the skull’s shape, character, and structure. From there, we will continue to refine each element, working through the features and incorporating gesture into our neck, hair, and eye direction.
Instruction will be hands-on from our two sculpture directors, who will demonstrate the core concepts behind our method by sculpting alongside the class. Join us and see what you’re capable of!
