Course Description
In this class, artists will paint a one-day alla prima (wet into wet) portrait sketch in oil paint. The model and artist position will change for each class. The challenge will be for the artist to capture proportion, likeness, form and color in a 4-hour period. The first few sessions artists will learn to use a monochromatic palette followed by a full color palette through the remainder of the course.
The instructors will discuss different techniques and strategies for drawing and painting the portrait with emphasis on palette organization, value relationships and subtle observation of form and color.
From drawing to modeling, each step will be discussed to help provide the beginner or more seasoned artist with the tools needed to achieve their goals. All levels welcome.
Co-instructors Kevin Müller Cisneros and Rodrigo Mateo will alternate teaching days.
