Structure Prix

A Catalog of Grand Central Atelier Structure Prix Winners

The Structure Prix is awarded at the end of each session of the weekly Structure Figure Drawing class in our core program. The pose averages 20 hours and students are instructed on anatomy, proportion, and form. Inspired by the cash awards given to the best student drawing every week to encourage healthy competition among peers at the Academy Julien in Paris during the 19th Century. The Structure Prix winner receives $500.

This prize was first awarded in October 2015 by GCA Drawing Director, Colleen Barry. Subsequent winning drawings were selected by Colleen and one other faculty member in rotation. This prize is possible through the generous support of the Morris and Alma Schapiro Fund.
