Summer: Portrait Drawing Essentials

Schedule: 10am – 1pm workshop; 1-2pm lunch; 2 – 5pm workshop
Limit: 12 students
Tuition: $700 ($350 deposit upon enrollment) Students may take their pieces home.

Course Description
In this workshop, artists will learn the foundations of portrait drawing. There will be an emphasis on structural anatomy, proportion, abstract shape design, and achieving likeness of the model. We will focus on practicing strong block-in skills on day 1 & 2, before advancing to a 2 day pose, where students will begin to translate a sculptural quality to their portraits through in-depth analysis of the light and form.
Days 1 & 2 – 6 hour poses each day
Days 3 & 4 – one two-day pose (12 hours)
