Spring: Plein Air Painting in Prospect Park

The Prospect Park War Memorial next to the LeFrak Center
(closet subway is Prospect Park station on Lincoln Road; Q-train and S-shuttle)

Schedule: 10am – 1pm workshop; 1-2pm lunch; 2 – 5pm workshop
Limit: 12 students
Tuition: $350 ($175 deposit upon enrollment)
Tuition balance is due by March 1.

In the event of rain, we will contact the students with an update, but we may still paint on location from a sheltered/covered spot.

Course Description

Students will execute a two-day plein air painting with techniques used by the Hudson River School painters.

Open to all skill levels, the goal of this workshop is to teach a traditional approach to landscape painting. We will cover the fundamentals of composition, and we will go over strategies on using color and value to create an atmospheric painting on site. There will be a special emphasis on drawing and indirect painting. Teacher demonstration and individualized critiques.
