“Brogie’s Structure class deepened my understanding of human anatomy for figure drawing in such a practical way, I almost felt as if I was developing X-ray vision. Taking his class was very challenging and rewarding. If you want to develop the ability to draw the figure from memory and imagination in a convincing way, this is the class for you.” – Milene

Course Description

This class will take an in-depth look at the structural anatomy of the head, hands, and feet. Students will make focused studies of each part, drawing either from life or from master works. Alongside these studies students will make structural drawings of the bones, which act as the framework of the figure. Advanced students may opt to further investigate the musculature and surface features. This exercise helps to clarify the relationship between the inner structure and the outer forms of the figure, giving the artist deeper insight to assist and sharpen their observation. Jon will provide lectures, individual critiques, and demonstrations of each exercise in order to highlight key concepts regarding proportion, gesture, and structure.

Some experience with the block-in method is highly recommended.
