Course Description
In this class the student will concentrate on developing a finished portrait painting from start to finish, following a series of controlled steps. Starting with a drawing on paper, the search for proportions and shape design is established. The drawing is transferred to canvas and we proceed with the underpainting and a separate color study to serve as a guide. After all preparatory work, the painting is finished part by part striving to capture color nuance, texture and form.
The goal is to provide the student with a series of steps that can guide the creative process from start to finish. Each step dealing with a particular problem the painter faces to achieve a likeness. In each successive layer the painting will progress in a controlled fashion becoming more defined.
Students may choose to start with long pose portrait drawing.
Instructors Kevin Müller Cisneros and Rodrigo Mateo will alternate teaching days.
