Full time Water Street Atelier students are required to take a lot of sculpture. In the first year, they sculpt the feature casts one morning a week — the same features (eyes, ear, lips, mouth) they are also drawing in the Cast Hall. Before graduating, each student must complete at least three figure sculptures from life. Some enter the program knowing they love to sculpt and get right to it, others aren’t sure and choose to wait. They often end up wishing they’d jumped in earlier!
