Course Description
Capturing a likeness in oil paint is one of the most challenging feats an artist can undertake, being able to do this in 6 hours is not only possible, but incredibly rewarding as well.
In this 5-day workshop, artists will paint a different portrait sketch in oil each day. ( New model each day ) Working directly ( wet-in-wet ), the artist will utilize good drawing, and careful observation of form and values to complete a lifelike portrait.
Students will discover a clear and straightforward way to approach painting, or drawing the portrait, with an emphasis on accurate drawing and observation, particularly the subtlety that the model presents. Students will also learn how to capture the likeness of the model and simulate the effects of light washing over the forms presented before them. All information covered in this workshop will be thoroughly explained so that each person will meet their individual goals. All levels are welcome.
Demonstration by the instructor will take place daily, and individual critiques will be offered each day.
