Course Description

In this workshop, students will be capturing the essence and humanity of the live model in the Alla Prima method, or completing an oil sketch “at first attempt.” Every day will involve painting a new portrait from start to finish (5 finished portraits in total). 

Sandra will guide artists through demonstration and individual critiques emphasizing a strong likeness with accurate drawing, color mixing, value relationships, modeling form and organizing value in relation to the light source. Timing will also be heavily discussed.

The course will embrace the student’s personal artistic goals and advance their understanding of the portrait via direct painting.

This workshop is geared towards artists of all skill levels.
